How it works
Three steps. Five minutes.
1

Export from Evernote

Right-click your notebook in Evernote, select "Export notes," save as .enex. Repeat for each notebook you want to move.

2

Drop into DocuRead

Drag your .enex file into the import tool. It runs in your browser — your data never leaves your device until it's encrypted and uploaded.

3

Search and ask AI

Every document is re-OCR'd and indexed. Search your entire library or ask AI questions about any document — immediately.

8,585 scanned documents · 5.8 GB · under 2 hours · zero data loss

"We had 12 years of scanned receipts and invoices in Evernote. Every other migration tool lost the searchability. DocuRead actually made them more searchable than they were before."

Questions about migration

How long does migration take?

Throughput is roughly 3–4 GB per hour, or 3,000–5,000 notes per hour depending on content type. A 5,000-note library finishes in about an hour. A 30,000-note, 30 GB library takes about 10 hours — start it before bed, wake up with everything migrated. You can pause and resume anytime.

What if I have 100,000+ notes?

No problem. Our desktop migrator uses a streaming parser that reads your .enex file in chunks — it never loads the full export into memory. We've tested with 30 GB+ files containing 30,000+ notes with zero skipped. Export your notebooks one at a time from Evernote, drop them in, and the migrator handles the rest. Duplicates are automatically detected and skipped, so you can safely re-import if an export was interrupted.

What if I accidentally import the same file twice?

No problem. The migrator detects duplicates by content hash and automatically skips documents that already exist in your library. You'll see exactly how many were skipped in the completion summary. This means you can safely re-run any import without worrying about double-counting.

What if my Evernote export was incomplete?

It happens — Evernote's export can silently stop mid-file, especially on large notebooks. Just re-export the same notebook and run the migrator again. It detects duplicates by content hash, so only the missing notes get imported. Zero double-counting.

Why can't I just use Notion?

Notion's importer doesn't OCR your scanned documents. Your PDFs import as file attachments, but you can't search inside them. If you have years of scanned receipts, invoices, and contracts, they become unsearchable blobs. DocuRead re-OCRs every scanned document, making your entire library searchable — often better than it was in Evernote.

What happens to my Evernote OCR data?

Evernote strips OCR text from exports. When you leave, your scanned documents lose their searchability. DocuRead re-OCRs every scanned document using Tesseract, so your library is fully searchable again.

Do my notebooks transfer?

Yes. Evernote notebooks automatically become DocuRead folders. Your organizational structure stays intact. Once migrated, you can reorganize with bulk move, shift-click range select, and drag-and-drop.

Can I try it before committing?

Yes. Migration is completely free — no credit card required. Export one notebook from Evernote, drop it into the migrator, and see the results. Import the rest whenever you're ready.

Is there a file size limit?

No. The desktop migrator handles files of any size. We've successfully migrated 30 GB+ exports with 30,000+ notes in a single run with zero data loss. If your export file is too large for the web uploader, the desktop app has no such limitation.

Is my data secure during migration?

Your files are processed locally on your machine by the desktop migrator — documents upload directly to encrypted cloud storage. AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest. We don't train AI on your documents. Zero data retention on AI queries. US-based infrastructure.

What file types are supported?

Everything in your Evernote export: PDFs, images (JPG, PNG, GIF), Office documents, HTML notes, and any other attachments. PDFs and images get full OCR indexing. HTML notes are preserved with formatting intact.
